Hello from Bertie's...
Your family run, independent high street pet store!
After being a supplier in the pet trade for over 25yrs I decided to open my own pet shop in my home town.
We are here for all your dog, cat and small animal pet needs. Our friendly, knowledgeable team are here to help.

Our staff have undergone training in the products that we sell in order to give you the advice best suited to your pet.
We pride ourselves in our range of naturally healthy pet foods and treats. We stock brands such as Canigan, Carnilove, Cotswold Raw and Natures Menu for cats and dogs, as well as our own range of pet food made here in the UK.

"Bertie's is a family run, independent business. This means we can offer advice on a range of natural and healthy products to all of our customers. After working in the pet retail industry for many years, I saw an opportunity to open up a pet store in my home town of Portishead. We have over 40 years of pet experience between us and our team are always on hand to help with any queries you may have. I have owned several dogs with Tilda being our most recent edition. (She is normally in store to say hello!)
No question or query is too small for us and if we can help or order in any special items we will. We all look forward to meeting you, and your lovely pets very soon."

"I have always had an interest in working with animals from a very early age. After leaving school I completed a Level 3 extended diploma in Animal Management which covered a wide range of topics including biology, behaviour, health and nutrition. In 2010 i started work in a local pet store and joined the Bertie's team in 2022.
Over the years I've owned all sorts of pets, including 11 hamsters, 3 rats, cold water and tropical fish, cats and 3 dogs.
We are currently down to 1 dog in the household, an 11 year old Rottweiler cross breed called Baloo, with the hopes to add another to the pack when the time is right."

"Hello, my name is Mia. Iv'e recently had the pleasure of joining the Bertie's team!
After completing my A levels I went on to study an Animal Management course at college to expand my knowledge of excellent pet care. I then went on to study a zoology degree at Bristol Zoo which allowed me to work with animals I never thought i'd have the pleasure of working with. However i left after the first year of study after realising my interests lie more with domesticated animals, which fortunately led me to Bertie's.
I am a keen dog lover with 2 dogs of my own. Honey, a 5 year old Maltese mix who is a brilliant big sister to Dexter, who is a 2 year old King Charles Spaniel mix that's always willing to be a taste tester, as you can imagine they are always pleased to visit me at work.
I've owned a range of animals, predominantly dogs, as well as tropical fish, small rodents and cats.

"Hello my name is Annabel and I have had had the pleasure of working here at Berties over the past 2 years, developing my knowledge of the pet trade.
When I'm not at work you will find me out bracing the elements with my 12 year old labradoodle named Ziggy who is always ecstatic when I bring home the latest product to try.
He is an avid chewer so if you have any questions on long-lasting dog treats please do pop in and say hi.
I have always been an animal lover and I can't wait to meet yours!"
